Description

Strategic Lead – Local Government Reorganisation and Devolution

£98,126 - £102,927 plus £4,395 car allowance

Staffordshire is entering a period of once‑in‑a‑generation change, and we are looking for an exceptional strategic leader to help shape our future.

As Strategic Lead for Local Government Reorganisation (LGR) and Devolution, you will play a pivotal role in delivering major public sector reform. Working at the heart of the Transformation Directorate alongside our Economy, infrastructure and skills Directorate. you will advise and influence elected members, the Chief Executive and the Senior Leadership Team, while leading the implementation of LGR and  the establishment of a new Strategic Authority across Staffordshire and Stoke‑on‑Trent.

This is a high‑profile role requiring political sensitivity, resilience and vision. You will lead complex change programmes within a fast‑moving national policy landscape, building strong partnerships with government, local authorities and key public sector stakeholders to secure better outcomes for residents, communities and the economy.

You will bring significant experience of leading transformation in complex public sector environments, with a strong understanding of governance, devolution and public sector reform. An inspirational and empowering leader, you will create momentum, cut through complexity and drive culture change, ensuring Staffordshire is well‑prepared for the transition to new unitary arrangements.

In return, we offer the opportunity to work on nationally significant reform, shape the future of local government, and make a lasting impact for the people of Staffordshire.
